Metacafe Launches Gumball 3000 Rally Channel & Video Contest
Metacafe, the official video site of the Gumball 3000 rally, announced the launch of its exclusive Gumball 3000 channel. The new channel serves up a stream of fresh video clips of the outrageous antics of an eclectic cast of celebrities, billionaires, rock icons, and film and fashion stars as they drive and party for 3,000 miles in 7 days. Now every Gumball 3000 fan has a one-stop shop for official Gumball 3000 video content and the best video clips caught on camera by Gumballers, attendees, and fans.
Metacafe is also launching the Gumball 3000 Video Contest to encourage every fan to participate in the rally from their laptop or desktop. Any video creator can submit a video inspired by the Gumball 3000 to Metacafe, where the first 50 clips submitted each day will win Gumball 3000 sweatbands. The top three videos submitted by May 22 will win co-branded merchandise from Gumball 3000 and adidas, the exclusive advertiser on the Gumball 3000 channel. These video creators will also take home coveted tickets to next year's Gumball 3000 launch party. Every video is eligible for cash payment through Metacafe's Producer Rewards program. "The Gumball 3000 brings together some of the world's most outrageous characters, and now anyone anywhere can watch and participate in the Gumball 3000 experience," said Metacafe CEO Erick Hachenburg. "Together, Gumball 3000 and Metacafe are delivering the excitement of the rally to a huge global audience of more than 24 million monthly visitors."
The Gumball 3000 features an outlandish cast of drivers from the worlds of film, fashion, finance, and music in a party-fueled
adventure around the world. This year's rally goes from London to Asia and back, and drivers set to participate include actors Hayden
Christensen and Jason Statham, rapper Xzibit, and musicians Jay Kay and Huey Morgan.
The Gumball 3000 is the only rally to test driver endurance with a series of exclusive parties that are as much a part of the experience
as the rally itself. Past participants include Oscar(TM) winner Adrien Brody, director Quentin Tarantino, Jackass star Johnny Knoxville,
and extreme sports legend Tony Hawk.
